Good Things

I'm sitting here with my dogs and kitty drinking a glass of red wine, watching TV, blogging and reading a magazine (not all at once of course). This is a good thing. I have been so stressed at work and honestly it's not for any good reason...more or less it's because I'm trying to learn how to work with different personality types and I'm having a REALLY hard time. I'm sure some people find it really hard to work with me too so I need to be patient. Patience is a good thing.

Speaking of good things...THE BACHELORETTE! I'm obsessed...I know. So, we knew it was going to be Chris and Roberto left. I think I'm still team Chris. I really do like Roberto and won't be disappointed if he "wins", but I really think Chris seems like a nice guy and they would be good together.

I heard she doesn't choose anyone but I really hope that is not true! I think she has been a great bachelorette though so I can't say I would be upset if there were a round 2!

Other TV shows...I have now fallen in love with "DC Cupcakes" on TLC. I love watching people bake and create really pretty and yummy things. On yesterday's episode, they made a Mardi Gras mask out of 1,000 mini cupcakes for St. Jude Hospital.

This is a really random post, but I will say that rain is a good thing...(I love that song) I'm listening to the storm outside; Dr's are a good thing...hopefully mine can call me in a prescription for my tummy; pets are a good thing...they keep me occupied when everyone else is busy; Nancy Grace is a good thing...I love to watch her every night; friends, family, work, prayer, health...these are all good things! Have a good night everyone :)

Had To Miss The Lake This Weekend

Well, I have ended up having a pretty relaxing weeked. Friday, I left work sick (tummy ache), Saturday Matt and I went to Newport with our friends but I didn't last very long (tummy ache again), and today I'm relaxing at home and getting ready for PF Chang's for dinner and TRUEBLOOD afterwards! Thanks to my Mom and Dad's friend Lisa (who is a nurse in Huntsville, AL), I have figured out what to do to feel better! Lisa said the antibiotic I was on a couple of weeks ago killed the good bacteria in my tummy and I need to take probiotics to balance things out. I started taking probiotics yesterday afternoon and it has REALLY helped! I almost feel back to normal. Thanks Lisa! Although I'm feeling better, I am still sad that we had to miss out on the lake this weekend b/c of my tummy :(

On to other things...anyone watch the Bachelorette? I'm so excited for tomorrow nights episode!

I don't like Frank at all! Obviously if you watch the show, you know what is going to happen tomorrow night. What a jerk! So, between Roberto and Chris...I really like both of them! She has dropped lots of hints about possibly not choosing anyone...I hope that doesn't happen!

Who's it gonna be...Roberto or Chris??? No spoilers please!

Too Long

Hi Friends,

It's been way too long since I have updated by blog! I guess I have been really busy. We have had things going on basically every week and weekend (in addition to work of course). We have been to Lake Cumberland several times already this summer, have attended many concerts, kept up with our garden, hung out with friends and family and so on! Here are a few pictures from the lake (4th of July weekend).

I'm sure we will have several more lake trips before the summer is over...not to mention the houseboat trip we have booked for the first weekend in September!

This Thursday is the TOM PETTY concert and I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! The last time I saw Tom Petty was about ten years ago. He came back to Cincinnati several years later but I was doing my internship in Huntsville, AL and couldn't make it to the concert. He is one of my all time favorites and I can't wait for his concert!

I hope to go see Eclipse some time today...I can't believe I've waited this long! AND, I'm super excited that TRUE BLOOD is on tonight!

Have a good week...I'll do my best to keep the posts coming :)

Time Out

I'm taking time out of my work day to say how much I love these colors!

I haven't used any of them yet because my "nail lady" (the wonderful Harmony) hasn't gotten them in yet! I think I'm going to go buy a couple of the colors myself and experiment. You might think they are a bit crazy, but I get so tired of red, pink and coral nails! These would be really FUN colors for a pedicure too!

We are going to the lake this weekend and I think I might be in need of some brightly colored nails and toes!

Have a good week!

The Next Big Thing!

Well, I made it home from Chicago! My BFF and I decided on a whim AGAIN that we were going to take a road trip this weekend and go to Chicago. For what reason??? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! We had so many people ask us what we came into town for and then look at us strangely after we said "no reason". LOL. We just thought we would take advantage of the three day weekend! The weather was perfect and we had nothing particular on our agenda which made it sooo nice! I only took TWO pictures and both were from my cell phone...shame on me. Here was our view from the man made beach Beachstro...

They had good food (Chicago style hot dogs were SOOO yummy), live music, good drinks and of course good company!

The only other picture I took was of our first satisfactory beverage :) We were in some sort of rut our first day. Everything we ordered was not what we expected! Finally we landed on this Miami Vice and it was perfect! Cheers to Memorial Day Weekend!

We HAD to make a visit to Giordanos Famous Chicago Style Pizza! If you go to Chicago and haven't been there you must work it into your next visit. We always go (we do have to wait quite a while each time but it is soooo worth the wait)! Yummo!

So the question is...what the NEXT BIG THING we will plan? lol.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and spent some time being thankful for the men and women that serve our country!

Fashion Friday...follow the leader!

Lots of other people's blogs have fashion friday and since I'm too lazy to upload pictures from my camera, I figured I would follow the leader!

I'm leaving for Chicago tomorrow morning and I would love to say I did some massive shopping for my trip, but I did not and I don't really need to. However if I HAD been shopping for the occasion, here is what I would have purchased:

This top with some dark jean capris and sandals for a day of shopping:

This swimsuit for a day at the manmade beach:

And this dress for a night on the town:

I actually have a very cute dress I bought in Chicago a few months ago that I haven't worn so I will definitely be packing that!

Everyone have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Summer has arrived!

You can tell it's summer in Northern Kentucky when my girlfriends and I are going to concerts and having some fun at the Ludlow Bromley Yacht Club (I do realize how redneck this sounds)! Me and two of my girlfriends went to the Josh Thompson concert last night and had our meet and greet...it was lots of fun!

If you like country music, I would definitely recommend his CD!

This upcoming week is full of concerts! Jimmy Buffet tomorrow and the Country Throwdown on Friday, which I'm SUPER excited about!

I have my buffet supplies ready to go (summer dress, leis, beach coozies, etc.). I should have lots of stories and pictures once it's all said and done! That's all for now!

Another Meet and Greet!

You may remember how excited I was in the winter when my girlfriends and I went to Chicago and scored a meet and greet with Eric Church. WELL...his opening act at that time was Josh Thompson and we've done it again! Tonight we are going to watch Josh in concert and we scored a meet and greet! YAY. He is playing at a very small venue and he is "up and coming", but we are super excited! He sings "Beer on the Table" and "Way Out Here" if you listen to country music. Hopefully I will have lots of pictures!

Have a good Saturday!

Blind Luck!

Another day of resting at home and reading magazines, blogs, looking on-line and watching TV. I received lots of text messages from my friends who were at the KY Oaks...here is one that I thought was so cute!

It's the program from the Oaks! Isn't it so cute!? They really do make it "ladies first". I hope the girls had a great time. I asked Brooke to make a bet for me. I bet on Blind Luck to win and she did! She was the favorite, but when I looked up all the horses that were running, I decided on her immediately. I figure since I work for a center for the blind it would only be appropriate for me to bet on Blind Luck! Congratulations to her! (SIDE NOTE: I've been hearing lots of things on the news about abuse and slaughtering of retired racehorses and I sure hope none of its true.)

As I write this, Matt is in the basement grouting the tile. Here are a few of our latest basement photos: (NOTE: the tiles dirty from being grouted so it will look much more clean once it's dry and washed!)

We have our cabinets sitting downstairs and I think they are going to look great! I'm going to wait to show pictures of those until they are set.

Hope everyone has a great weekend...I'll be working on getting better!

Figured It Out . . .

As you already know...I have had this darn fever since Sunday and have not been able to kick it! I thought I was on the mend yesterday, only to start feeling yucky again in the evening. I took my temperature and sure enough it was back up and I was beginning to have some slight pain in my left rib area. My Mom drove me all around town this morning...we went to my Dr's office and picked up prescriptions, went and had my blood work done and then went to St. Elizabeth so I could get a chest X Ray. Well, sure enough the Dr. called soon after we got home and said I have pneumonia in my left lung. Now we know why I couldn't get my fever to go away! I have antibiotics to take, I need to get plenty of rest and keep my fever under control. Now I have to pray that the medicine does it's job and I start to feel better as soon as possible!

Although I'm very happy to know whats going on...this little diagnosis has completely nixed my plans for the KY Oaks and Derby festivities. I will not be leaving for Louisville tonight and of course will not be wearing my hat and watching the fantastic races with my girlfriends.
I am happy they will get to go and hope they take lots of pictures in their pretty dresses and hats. Maybe I will watch the races on TV, wear my hat and make myself a glass of cranberry juice to feel like I'm right there with them, LOL! One day I will get over missing this event that I have been so super excited about. Maybe next year we will get actual seats to the Derby...now that would make me feel better, lol.

On to other things. Now I have to hope I'm feeling better before my sister-in-laws graduation party takes place! It's being held at our house one week from Saturday and I have lots to do to make it happen. Lauren graduated from Northern Kentucky University a few months ago but wanted to wait until the Spring to have her party.

I hope it's nice weather so we can set lots of things up outside in our backyard!

I'm seeing a vacation in my future...once I feel better and can find some time to take off work! My parents are leaving for San Francisco one week from today and that sounds fantastic! I have been there once before but I was relatively young and don't remember much aside from Alcatraz and homeless people sleeping in the park (oh and rats...lots of rats). I would love to go back someday...who am I kidding...I would love to go anywhere!

For those of you who are participating in this big KY DERBY weekend, I hope you have a great time!
